College Essay

I am writing to the University of California to describe to them exactly who I am

and how I live my life. Expressing yourself to someone is a great way to get someone or

a group of people to like you and accept who you really are. Hopefully the University of

California agrees and likes what I have to say about myself.

I am 17 years old, and will be 18 in less than one month. I am pretty excited for

that and hopefully life goes well whenever I get more than what I already have. I am a

worker at Kids Korner at the Mason Community Center and enjoy the job. My previous

employment was at Outback Steakhouse in Mason. Every night I would get chicken

wings and eat every single one. That job did not last too long because of the hours I was

receiving. They were not very flexible and I was working until 10 or 11 on school nights.

Now I’m happy with my job and hope it continues to work out the way it does.

Wrestling is a very important part of my life and I enjoy wrestling every weekend

in the winter. This year, I will be on varsity at either the weight of 132 pounds or 126

pounds. Either way, they will both be very competitive weight classes and fun for me to

get the experience in. Currently, I work out with my wrestling coach 4 times a week, and

it is really improving my strength and skill. Every moment counts. Right now, that is all I

have to say about myself. I am really happy with my life and I’m hoping the University

of California is happy with what I have to say.

Prufrock Essay

The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
Devon Stanaford

Ms. Wilson English IIIB

Have you wondered where your life is going to go, or wonder what it is becoming? As if it were a pattern and you did not know they next move or turn. J. Alfred Prufrock has that problem. His life is a problem and tries to share his London stories with us. A big pattern is a way to describe his life. He asks himself what is going on in life and what is purpose is. Only time will tell, and in the end he will know.
The use of imagery used by Prufrock in this poem helps get his point across the table and shows how he feels. The feeling he is expressing is him being lost in his own world, and trying to walk us through it . Also, it shows he is not good with staying on one subject. For instance “Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare eat a peach?” line 122, shows he cannot stick with one subject and that he is confused. Although, when he is referring to mermaids, that is a very good use of imagery and shows that he has been through a lot.
Through the life of Alfred Prufrock, he has not accomplished a lot, besides seeing a bunch of women and roaming the streets of London. Life is not fair to everyone in this world and it certainly is not to Prufrock. His images used in the beginning of the poem show he has not lived the best life and that he does not live in the best part of town. “Let us go, through certain half-deserted streets, The muttering retreats Of restless nights in one-night cheap hotels And sawdust restaurants with oyster-shells;” lines 4-7. A night in a city like this will change a life, as it did to Alfred.
He shows that he is not sure if he wants to come out to the world or stay put in his own little nutshell, “Do I dare Disturb the universe?” Lines 45-46 Alfred has too many imagery concepts to grasp a hold of in his poem. Some of which are metaphors that compare to life and others that compare to himself and what he does. Prufrock is not the nicest guy nor the most trustworthy man in the world. “Let us go and make our visit. In the room the women come and go” lines 12-13. This shows Alfred has not only been with a couple women, but a few. He is trying to get women to enjoy a night with him so he can take them through the “half deserted streets” and the “cheap hotel rooms.”
He is too classy of a guy and really likes to show the women a night on the town. Many people have different ways of expressing themselves and showing how they live. Alfred Prufrock uses imagery and makes it clear to how he lives. His life is not the best, and he is not the nicest person, but he gets his point across on how he lives his life. Alfred was good at describing himself and his surroundings. Imagery is a very important thing and Prufrock told us his life using imagery.

Blog Post #4

I was considered Present-Hedonistic Person. This means I am a positive person and do not like to deal with the negative thoughts of others. According to this, I am self indulgent, playful, and enjoys all things that bring immediate pleasure. Being a positive person and being happy is always a very good thing. This is a good way to describe me.

I would agree with what the assessment classified me as. I agree because I feel that it is true, the description given. I am always wanting to do something, play and whatever everyone else wants to do. I think it is a great way to describe me and I feel the assessment worked out well for me.

Blog 2: Design

My profile is currently red because it is one of my favorite colors and because I love the Cincinnati Reds. Also, the design is very nice. I feel it is good to show who you are and what you like through colors and images. The Reds are my favorite baseball team and I enjoy going to games every year. My dad gets season tickets every year. I went to opening day last year with my dad and it is a day I will always remember. It was packed that day and it was very enjoyable for everyone there.

My profile is also ready for another reason and a very silly reason. That reason would be because I absolutely love hot sauce. I will put hot sauce on practically anything I eat. Almost every night at dinner I get out the hot sauce and my family looks at me like I am crazy. If it’s not hot, it’s not right in my mind. Many people don’t like hot sauce and it just blows my mind. That pretty much describes who I am and why my profile is the way it is.
